Hot Burns

It was summer and very hot. Ghanshyam Maharaj became sick, and therefore He did not eat. Knowing that Shree Ghanshyam Maharaj was not feeling well, Chandamasi came to visit Him. She gently touched Shree Ghanshyam’s body and said, “Shree Ghanshyam has got ‘hot burns’. Let Him sleep in an airy place.”

Mother Bhaktimata let Him sleep on the bed and started singing glories in praise of Lord. Just then, Ghanshyam Maharaj’s maternal aunt (mami), Laxmibai came. Looking at sick Ghanshyam, she said, “Do not let him go out of the house for the next 20 days and also do not let him have a bath and be very careful. Even water should not touch his body.”

Shree Ghanshyam Maharaj said, “How can we not have a bath? We are Brahmins. We should have bath everyday. Please, now bring me some cold water. I will take a bath which will cure the ‘hot bums’ and the fever will go away.”

Mother Bhaktimata came to believe Shree Ghanshyam. She took Him near the well. She drew some water from the well and started bathing Shree Ghanshyam. After the bath, Bhaktimata saw that the ‘hot burns’ had disappeared and there was no fever. She noticed only some faint marks of the ‘hot burns’.

Looking at the incidence of Shree Ghanshyam Maharaj, Chandamasi and Laxmibai thought for sure Ghanshyam Maharaj was God Himself. After bowing to Shree Ghanshyam Maharaj, they went home happily.
