Barber

Ghanshyam was now three years old. Father Dharmadev thought of performing 'Mundan' ceremony of Ghanshyam (hair shaving ceremony). Finding the auspicious time, he called the barber. The barber came with his equipment.

Mother Bhaktimata with Ghanshyam in her lap sat down facing the eastern direction. The barber took out his equipment and started shaving. As soon as he was half way through, Ghanshyam became invisible to the barber. Everyone present there could see Ghanshyam on his mother's lap but the barber couldn't. The barber started panicking and became as rigid as a statue.

Seeing the barber Bhaktimata said, “Why are you still quite, why don’t you finish the shaving.” The barber replied, “What can 1 do? 1 can’t even see Ghanshyam. How can 1 finish the shaving?” Mother told Ghanshyam in His ear, “Half-shaved hair does not look nice. Why don’t you let him finish the shaving? Show him your presence.”

Ghanshyam performed another miracle and the barber could now see Him. The barber finished the shaving and he thought that Ghanshyam is God for sure. The barber touched the feet of Ghanshyam for blessings and without taking his charges, he went away.

Thereafter Ghanshyam had a bath in Narayan Sarovar. Dharmadev gave alms to the Brahmins and distributed diamonds and jewels and he became busy preparation for feeding the Brahmin.
