Birds in Trance
Once Bhaktimata said, “Ghanshyam, the paddy in our farm is ready. The birds are spoiling the crops. As your father and elder brother are going to the neighboring village today, you have to go to the farm and take care of it.” Ghanshyam said, “Okay.” Mother gave Ghanshyam some food to eat.
Bhaktimata put a hat on Ghanshyam''s head and velvet shoes on His legs. She gave Him a big cane in His hand and sent Him to the farm to take care of the crops. Playing with the cane, He reached the farm in time. He climbed on one of the Jambu trees and saw many sparrows flying over the farm. Some were on the tree, some were on the branches, some were on the ear of the corn and some were on the ground.
Ghanshyam thought, “I cannot kill the birds so what can I do?” At once He thought of an idea. He shouted loudly and all the birds went into trance. Instantly the birds started falling. Some birds were in trance on the trees; others were on the branches. Some were on the ear of the corn and some or the ground.
The birds were in trance so Ghanshyam went to a nearby farm that was owned by Madhavram. There He started playing with His friends called Raghuvir arid Bakasram. It was now evening. By then Dharmadev and Rampratapbhai came to take Ghanshyam but couldn't find Him in the farm. So they started looking for Him and saw Him playing in the nearby farm.
Dharmadev asked, “We sent you to take care of the farm, didn't we?” Ghanshyam said, “Let's go and see.” Both Dharmadev and Rampratapbhai saw that the birds were lying on the ground and some lying on the tree. In the mouth of the birds were the ears of the corns as they were when they went into trance. Dharmadev and Rampratapbhai were shocked . Ghanshyam shouted again and all the birds flew away.
