Introduction
The Academy has been running successfully since October 1997, when we first organised the shoe stall & parking for Diwali. Since then, we have organised sports and cultural activities every Friday between 7pm and 9pm. The Academy is run in the wedding hall above the Temple by volunteers most of which have First Aid training.
The sports activities include football, cricket, pool, table tennis and more. We have two of each piece of equipment to allow boys and girls to play separately.
Sport activities start at 7.00pm and finish at 8.00pm. At 8.00pm children make their way down to the sabha hall to sing the Fagva. After fagva is sung the children get into their allocated groups. These groups are arranged according to age. In the younger groups the children are taught about Ghanshyam Maharaja’s lilas, the children are also given a mini test before the discussion starts of what Ghanshyam Maharaj was wearing on that day, mansi pooja is taught and the correct way of doing mansi pooja is explained in the simplest way.
For the older groups activities are taught in discussions. Scriptures like the Vachnamrit are read and then discussed in a group; people are urged to bring their views up so that the Vachnamrit’s can be understood to the best extent. Also when the Santos are present, we ask them to also bring up their views and thoughts and to explain the Vachnamrit’s to their best extent. We also discuss about our Hindu festivals and why they are important to us e.g. Ramnavmi, Swaminarayan jayanti, Janmastmi and many more. General issues affecting our sampraday are disscussed and how they can be resolved according to our shastras and santos. There are many other discussions and activities which take place. All ages are welcome from youngsters to adults.
Come and join in with the fun, which is being experienced by the academy satsangis. We aim to make Satsang fun and simple to learn.
