RamNavami & Swaminarayan Jayanti - Chaitra Sud Navami

Almighty, omnipresent, omniscience and cause of all causes Bhagwan manifested twice on this pious and one of the most holy day of Hindu calendar.

Manifestation (Avatar) of Lord Ram was in the form of the ideal king/person. To Him the promise was bigger than anything and everything. There was a king Dasharath of Ayodhya. He had three queens and four sons. Ram from eldest queen Kaushalya, Laxman and Shatrughna from middle queen Sumitra and Bharat from the youngest queen Kaikeyi. When all princes came of the age, King Dasharath, in consultation with elder statesmen, decided to appoint Lord Ram as the next king. By this time, Lord Ram had married Sita, princess of Videh and daughter of King Janak.

Kaamda Ekadashi - Chaitra Sud Ekadashi

King Yudhishthir once asked Bhagwan Shree Krishna, "O Vaasudev! I bow down to You. Please tell me about the Ekadashi which falls in the Sud fortnight of the month of Chaitra."

Bhagwan Shree Krishna replied, "O king! I shall reiterate the Katha of significance of this Ekadashi which Rishi Vashishtha had narrated to King Dilip in bygone era. Listen to it attentively."

Sage Vashishtha said, "O King Dilip! The Ekadashi falling in the bright fortnight of Chaitra is called 'Kaamda Ekadashi'. Observing this Ekadashi not only washes away one's sins but also fulfils his desire to have a son.

Hanuman Jayanti - Chaitra Sud Purnima

Hanuman is a very important demigod of Hindu mythology. He is one of Chiranjivi (ever living). He is the foremost devotee of Bhagwan Ram. Though he served two other Avatars of Bhagwan (Bhagwan Shree Krishna and Shree Swaminarayan) since then, his life remains dedicated to his Ishtadev Bhagwan Ram. Shree Hari has extolled this virtue in the Vachanamrut.

Apara Ekadashi - Vaishakh Vad Ekadashi

King Yudhishthir asked, "O Janardan! What is the name of Ekadashi that falls in the dark (Vad) fortnight of Vaishakh? What is its Mahatmya? Please tell me this in great detail."

Bhagwan Shree Krishna replied, "O King Yudhishthir! You have asked a very good question. Vaishakh Vad Ekadashi is called Apara Ekadashi. It is capable of fulfilling one's all worldly desires as well as negating all sins. A person fasting on this Ekadashi earns a great fame in this world. Even major sins such as killing a Brahmin, who tormenting or destroying his own family, killing a child in mother's womb, defaming someone with intent or committing adultery with other woman are washed away by observing the Vrat of Apara Ekadashi.
